  • Nasco is believed to be Sardinia‘s most ancient grape variety, holding a unique place in the island’s viticultural history.
  • Genetically distinct from all other Sardinian varieties, Nasco stands out for its individuality and heritage.
  • However, during much of the 20th century, Nasco vines were extensively uprooted to make room for more productive and disease-resistant grape varieties. This shift was driven by the need to enhance vineyard efficiency and combat parasitic threats, which ultimately led to the decline of Nasco’s presence in Sardinian vineyards.
  • Despite these challenges, efforts are now being made to revive and preserve this historically significant cultivar.

Nasco wines consistently exhibit a distinct herbal bouquet, prominently featuring notes of rosemary and thyme that captivate the senses. This aromatic profile is complemented by a delightful muskiness, evoking the essence of the grape variety itself. Despite being an early ripening grape, Nasco showcases remarkable complexity in its wines, exceeding expectations with layers of nuanced flavors and textures.
