Lacrima

Red

  • The grapes of Lacrima, aptly named for their teardrop shape, boast a delicate skin that readily tears, both on the vine and in the hands, hence the name “lacrima,” which translates to “tear” in Italian.

  • While Lacrima shares aromatic qualities with Aleatico, it is important to note that it is distinct from Lacryma Christi, a wine from Campania.

  • The first DOC designation for Lacrima di Morro d’Alba was established in 1985 when just 7 hectares were dedicated to its cultivation.

  • The finest vineyard sites, known as crus, are situated around Senigallia, where the optimal terroir allows Lacrima to fully express its unique characteristics.

The intense bouquet of lavender, red rose, cinnamon, and nutmeg in Lacrima di Morro d’Alba is truly unforgettable, complemented by robustly saline and floral notes of dark berry and black cherry flavors.

While reminiscent of black muscat, Lacrima di Morro d’Alba offers a distinct aroma profile, characterized by its heightened floral essence and subdued spiciness, with a lesser degree of sweetness.

Typically, Lacrima di Morro d’Alba undergoes minimal oak aging to preserve its vibrant fruit characteristics.

For those seeking a sweeter indulgence, Lacrima di Morro d’Alba Passito presents an air-dried, sweet rendition. These wines are notably tannic yet harmonize beautifully with decadent chocolate desserts.
