  • Sparkling: minimum 60% Trebbiano Toscano and/or Trebbiano Abruzzese + minimum 30% Chardonnay and/or Verdicchio and/or Pecorino + maximum 10% other white grape varieties allowed for cultivation in the region.
  • Still White Wine: minimum 50% Trebbiano Toscano and/or Trebbiano Abruzzese + minimum 10% Passerina + maximum 40% other white non-aromatic grape varieties allowed for cultivation in the region. Minimum 85% Chardonnay or Pecorino or Passerina + maximum 15% other white grape varieties allowed for cultivation in the region.
  • Still Red Wine: minimum 70% Montepulciano + maximum 30% other red grape varieties allowed for cultivation in the region. Minimum 85% Merlot or Cabernet Franc and/or Cabernet Sauvignon + maximum 15% other red grape varieties allowed for cultivation in the region.
  • Still Rosato Wine: minimum 70% Montepulciano + maximum 30% other red grape varieties allowed for cultivation in the region. Minimum 85% 
  • Passito: minimum 60% Trebbiano Toscano and/or Trebbiano Abruzzese and/or Malvasia Bianca Lunga and/or Passerina + maximum 40% other white grape varieties allowed for cultivation in the region. Minimum 70% Montepulciano + maximum 30% other red grape varieties allowed for cultivation in the region.

  • Controguerra DOC is situated in the northern part of the Abruzzo region, near the borders of the Marche region. It encompasses the hills around the town of Controguerra in the province of Teramo.
