  • The grape suffered a steep decline due to the devastation of phylloxera. Its revival in the mid-20th century is owed to Pietro Pianori, a winemaker from Faenza, renowned as “Centesimino,” meaning “little cent.” This moniker eventually became the new name for the grape variety.

  • They thrive primarily in the provinces of Ravenna and Forlì-Cesena. As of 2016, there were approximately 25 hectares of Centesimino vineyards in cultivation, testament to its resurgence from near extinction.

  • It is not a mutation of Sauvignon Blanc.
