Thriving on the slopes of Vesuvius, it finds its home in the volcanic soils of the region. Remarkably, it remains ungrafted due to the protection afforded by the volcanic soils against phylloxera infestation. Notably, there exists a red variant of this grape.
Traditionally relegated to table grape status, it transitioned to a registered cultivar for winemaking purposes only in 2006, marking a significant shift from its historical usage.
