  • In 1716, the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo III de’ Medici, issued a decree that recognized Carmignano as one of the four original wine-producing regions in Tuscany, alongside Chianti, Pomino, and Val d’Arno di Sopra. This makes Carmignano one of the earliest officially recognized wine regions in the world.
