- The name “Cacc’e’ Mmitte” is derived from a local dialect in Lucera, a town in the Apulia region of southern Italy. “Cacc’e mmitte” translates to “take out and put in,” referring to an old practice where winemakers would take out the wine from one container and put it into another. This was part of a cooperative process where wine facilities were shared among different producers.
- The DOC area is centered around the town of Lucera, located in the province of Foggia in northern Apulia. The vineyards benefit from the region’s Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters.
