Moscato di Scanzo

Red

  • Moscato di Scanzo stands out as a rare gem, crafting exceptional wines that captivate the senses. This aromatic red grape variety bears a resemblance to Moscato Nero or Aleatico, yet it possesses distinct characteristics that set it apart.
  • Notably, it’s often confused with these red-berried varieties. Remarkably, Moscato di Scanzo holds the distinction of being Italy’s smallest DOCG, a prestigious designation granted in 2009.
  • Despite its limited production, with only 60,000 bottles crafted yearly, each bottle represents a testament to its unparalleled quality and uniqueness.

Moscato di Scanzo emerges as a rare gem among the world’s sweet red wines, boasting an exquisite fusion of precision and complexity. Its hallmark lies in the intricate interplay of spicy red berry and delicate violet aromas and flavors, all harmonized by a lively yet balanced acidity.

When made with meticulous care, each bottle exudes luscious sweetness, adhering to stringent regulations stipulating a residual sugar content of fifty to one hundred grams per liter and total acidity of 4.5 grams per liter.

In the revered classic zone surrounding Monte Bastia, expect wines redolent with spicy red berry notes, offering a rich tapestry of flavors. Conversely, those hailing from the eastern reaches of the DOCG exhibit a fruitier profile underscored by mineral nuances, while their counterparts from the central region tantalize the palate with a denser, more opulent character. Here, black fruit reigns supreme, accented by hints of cocoa, promising an indulgent sensory experience with each sip.
