It is one of the two key white grape varieties of the island of Ischia, located in Campania.
Forastera is notable for its moderate sugar accumulation and consistent total acidity levels, regardless of the diverse terroirs in which it is cultivated.

A quality Forastera wine is characterized by herbal notes, reminiscent of wild fennel, oregano, and mint, alongside a saline undertone. It also exhibits hints of ripe Golden Delicious apple and dried apricot, adding layers of complexity to its flavor profile.
