Fiano fell out of favor and nearly vanished until it was rediscovered by Mastroberandino.
Its debut as a monovarietal wine was in 1945, with only 30 bottles produced.
Fiano is remarkably versatile, capable of producing a spectrum of wines ranging from light-bodied to full-bodied, and from dry to sweet, offering options from easygoing to remarkably age-worthy. The latter examples can gracefully mature and improve for a decade or more, a rarity among Italian white wines.
